Travelers need a valid passport to enter South Korea. The traveler's passport must be valid when the traveler arrives in South Korea.

Registered foreign residents who have departed on or after April 1st, 2022, and intend to re-enter South Korea after spending more than 1 year abroad from the date of departure (2 years maximum) must obtain a multiple re-entry permit before departing for international travel from South Korea.

This requirement doesn’t apply to the following travelers:
-Travelers Diplomats (A-1), Government Officials (A-2), International Agreement (A-3), or Overseas Korean (F-4) status are not required to apply for a Re-Entry Permit;
-Foreign residents who have departed on or after April 1st, 2022, and will be returning within the 1-year allowance (2 years for permanent residents);
-Nationals of Suriname, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, France, Finland, and Chile.

Re-entry permit is required for long-term foreign residents

Travelers are recommended to register for the pre-entry system (Q-code) for a prompt quarantine inspection before traveling to South Korea.
Travelers without a Q-code may take longer for document inspection on arrival. These travelers must fill out a separate health status questionnaire distributed by the airline on board.

Travelers must wear masks in public places such as airports, buildings, and public transportation.

Travelers need a travel authorization to visit South Korea for Business or Tourism.

Visa-exempt visitors entering South Korea must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Travelers can submit the eTA application online. Once the application is approved, travelers receive their eTA confirmation electronically.

An eTA is electronically linked to a passport and valid for up to 2 years. If travelers receive a new passport, they must apply for a new eTA.

A valid eTA is required to board the flight. If the eTA is expired or doesn’t match the traveler’s passport information, travelers will not be able to board their flight.
